Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation: The staff assists people with physical, emotional or mental disabilities that create barriers to employment. Diagnostic, counseling, guidance, placement, and some training services are available at no cost to help clients enter, re-enter or maintain employment. Other services require financial participation. A counselor from the division meets with people at the Aspen Mine Center. An appointment is required. Pikes Peak Workforce Center: We have a dual mission. First, we help businesses solve their workforce-related business problems, and second, we help residents with career transition. The result is that both improve their profitability, productivity and competitive edge. Business services include access to qualified candidates, hiring events, job fairs, workshops and labor market information. Job-seekers can access pre-employment training, resumé writing and workshops. For those eligible, additional training may be available, including GED preparation, basic skills upgrade and computer basic training. Customers ages 14 and up may use the center's services. The center is open on the upper floor of the Aspen Mine Center 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, and 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Phone 689-3584, ext. 121. Ute Pass School-to-Work Alliance Program: SWAP is a collaborative effort among area school districts, the Colorado Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and local businesses. The program is designed for young adults, ages 16-25, with mild to moderate disabilities, such as learning disabilities, ADHD, depression, or physical disabilities. Eligible youths with adequate transportation and a primary focus of securing employment can benefit from SWAP assistance in exploring careers, developing a career path, learning job-seeking skills, finding internships, and connecting with employers.
