Pikes Peak Mental Health: Mental Health is fundamental to physical health. It is indispensable to personal well-being and to leading a balanced and productive life. Stigma and its accompanying discrimination is the greatest barrier we face when addressing the issue of mental health. The greatest weapons against stigma are information and knowledge. Approximately one in five Americans is affected by a mental illness, and mental health problems can occur in anyone. In the last 20 years, scientific study of the brain and behavior have led to new and very effective treatments for people with mental illness. Quality of life is tremendously improved when a mental disorder is diagnosed and treated appropriately. If you are experiencing mental or emotional difficulty, seeking help is just as important (and normal) as when you have symptoms of a physical illness. Appointments at the Aspen Mine Center, lower level, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Call for more information, 689-3584, ext. 112, or call for an appointment at 572-6330. Prospect Home Care & Hospice: The nonprofit organization was founded in 1982 to provide comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals recuperating under physician orders (home care) and individuals with a shortened life expectancy (hospice). Teller County Department of Public Health: The staff develops policies, plans and programs to support good individual and community health. This includes providing monthly well-child clinics and family-planning clinics at the Aspen Mine Center and twice-a-month nutrition services through the federal Women, Infants and Children program.
