Cripple Creek-Victor Schools' Community of Caring Program: The Community of Caring program is a character-building framework for K-12 schools formalized by Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Its core values are caring, respect, responsibility, trust and family. Cripple Creek-Victor Schools' art teacher Mary Bielz facilitated the CCV schools' becoming Community of Caring schools several years ago and later also adopted the name for the Community of Caring Foundation of Cripple Creek, Colorado, the nonprofit organization behind the Aspen Mine Center. Cripple Creek-Victor Schools' PeaceBuilders Training: PeaceBuilders is a research-based curriculum to teach schoolchildren and communities how to prevent and address bullying. The Cripple Creek-Victor School District has been granted funds to implement the program from an $8.6 million Bullying Prevention Initiative funded by The Colorado Trust, and it began the three-year program at the start of the 2005-2006 school year. Gold Belt Communities Build A Generation: Headquartered at the Teller County Centennial Building, the GBCBAG program aims to build in the present for the future of our children. Its mission is to build a safe, compassionate community that fosters communication and mutual respect, with adequate resources to promote lifelong learning and positive interaction. The office compiles community risk and resource assessment and analyzes the gaps to encourage collaborative efforts to fill them. Habitat for Humanity of Teller County: The organization builds and rehabilitates homes which it makes available for low-income families to purchase through affordable mortgages.
